Turning Challenges into Innovation

Germany | 2025 Samsung Solve for Tomorrow

Point on 'Germany' in world map

Innovations often stem from personal challenges, and each team—Aura, Arana AI, and ExoHeal—of Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2024 embodies this spirit. By transforming their own struggles into AI-driven solutions, these teams are poised to make a meaningful social impact. After refining their concepts and developing prototypes, they are now gearing up to launch their projects to the world.

Aura: Bringing Comfort to Dementia Patients

For Aura creators, Luis Somasundaram and Moritz Scheffer, caring for loved ones with dementia was deeply personal. Their journey began with an AI-powered medication dispenser but evolved through Samsung Solve for Tomorrow into Aura, an empathetic AI assistant that engages dementia patients in meaningful conversation. With ongoing improvements, they aim to make Aura a tool that supports and connects, helping combat loneliness among those affected.

Arana AI: Simplifying Bureaucracy for All

Bureaucratic hurdles can be overwhelming, especially for those with visual impairments or language barriers. Arana AI, developed by Leon Beckert, Barnabás Vicsay, and Ábel Nagy, aims to break down these barriers using AI. Their application, tentatively named EasyAmt, simplifies complex government documents, provides clear explanations, and assists users in filling out forms. Inspired by their own frustrations with administrative processes, the team is now working toward making Arana AI available across Europe, ensuring that paperwork is no longer an obstacle to essential services.

ExoHeal: Revolutionizing Hand Rehabilitation

When Zain Samdani’s uncle lost the ability to use his hands after a stroke, he witnessed the emotional toll of lost independence. Determined to improve rehabilitation, he teamed up with Ramin Udash and Karim Abualrish to create ExoHeal—a robotic glove that helps individuals with hand paralysis regain mobility. Using AI, the glove adapts therapy exercises based on the user’s progress, making rehabilitation more personalized and effective. Now, with support from Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, the team is focused on bringing ExoHeal to market, offering hope and independence to stroke survivors and others facing similar challenges.
